Sesil Karatantcheva (BUL) defeated American Meghann Shaughnessy 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 in a first round match at US Open

In a 3 set match Sesil defeated Meghann Shaughnessy of USA in the first round of US Open in Flushing Meadows, New York, USA. Karatantcheva was loosing the match but she succeeded to stay and with two 7-5 sets won to advance to the second round. The next player who Sesil will face is Amelie Mauresmo of France who is seeded 3. The other Bulgarian Magdalena Maleeva also advanced to second round after defeating Emmanuelle Gagliardi of Switzerland.
Sesil Karatantcheva Will Start at US Open Against Meghann Shaughnessy of USA

According to the draws of US Open publihsed yesterday Sesil will play with Meghann Shaughnessy of USA (WTA Rank 60). Only in the second round Sesil might play with Amelie Mauresmo seeded 3. This is the 2nd participation of Karatancheva at US Open. The other Bulgarian tennis player Magdalena Maleeva will play with a qualifier.
Sesil Karatantcheva Defeated Jill Craybas to Advance to Second Round in Toronto

The Bulgarian tennis player Sesil Karatancheva moved to the second round of the 1,3 million Rogers Cup Tournament in Toronto, Canada. Sesil defeated the American Jill Craybas 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 in a match that lasted 1:33 hours. Later today Karatantcheva plays with Nadia Petrova of Russia who is seeded 6.
Sesil Karatantcheva Jumped to No 38 in the WTA Tour Ranking

After reaching the quater-finals of the prestigeous Acura Classic tournament in San Diego, California last week, Sesil climbed by 11 places in the WTA ranking reaching the 38th place. On her 16th birthday Karatantcheva became the best Bulgarian tennis player as Magdalena Maleeva dropped to 56th position as she has not played in any tournament last week. The third Bulgarian in Top 100 is the young Tsvetana Pironkova who moved from 99 to 98.
Karatancheva Left Acura Classic

In the quaterfinal round at Acura Classic in San Diego, California, Karatancheva lost with 1-6, 2-6 from Japan's Ai Sugiyama. Sugiyama is 38th in the world rank list. The next tournament where Sesil Karatancheva will particiapate is Rogers Cup in Toronto, Canada, August 13-21 2005 which is one of the US Open Series tournaments.
Karatantcheva Reaches Quater-final Round at Acura Classic

Sesil Karatantcheva of Bulgaria breezed past American Mashona Washington, 6-1, 6-2, to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2005 Acura Classic in San Diego, California. The third-round match took place on a bright sunny morning on Stadium Court at the La Costa Resort and Spa. Karatantcheva saved 16 of 17 break points during the one-hour and seven-minute match. Washington hurt her chances as she hit nine double faults. Karatantcheva now leads Washington 2-0 in career head-to-head meetings. Now the young hopeful will face the rivalry of Japan's Ai Sugiyama, who defeated second seed Svetlana Kuznetsova 2-6 6-4 6-3
Sesil Karatantcheva advances in San Diego

The tennis wiz kid Sesil Karatancheva advanced into the third round of the USD 1.3-million Acura Classic tournament in San Diego, California, USA. She will face the American Mashona Washington later today. In the second round of the tournamet Karatantcheva defeated Lisa Raymond of USA 7-6 (6), 6-4 and earned USD 12775 from the winner's purse and 75 WTA ranking points so far.
Sesil Karatantcheva defeated Shinobu Assagoe at Acura Classic, San Diego

The young tennis star Sesil Karatantcheva started with a win at Acura Classic in San Diego, USA (1.3 million USD). She defeated 6:1 0:6 7:5 the Japanese Shinobu Assagoe. Assagoe is seeded 13 in the tournament and is ranked 25 at WTA Tour. At the start in California the Bulgarian had to face Elena Likhovtseva who defeated her at the Roland Garros quater-filnals last May. The seeded No 1 Lindsay Davonport refused to participate because of injury and that lead to changes in the draws, respectively the opponent of Sesil was also changed. Karatantcheva will play with Lisa Raymond of USA in the second round.
