• Karatantcheva vs Pironkova at the Start in Ft Walton Beach

The 25'000 USD ITF tournament in Ft Walton Beach in Florida will start with a very interesting first round match for the Bulgarian tennis fans. The best Bulgarian tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova, Seed 6, is the opponent of Sesil Karatantcheva on Wednesday. Although both players have played many matches during trainings they have only one official match back in 2003. Then 14-years-old Karatantcheva defeated the compatriot 16-years-old Pironkova 6-4 2-6 6-2 to win the 10'000 USD tournament in Volos, Greece.
Karatantcheva starts the tournament in Florida in the doubles tournament on Tuesday in partnership with the Chinese Yi-Fan Xu against the Seed 1 Americans Julie Ditty and Carly Gullickson.

Sesil Karatantcheva could not take advantage of the postponing of the match of the second round of the 25'000 USD tournament in Clearwater, Florida. Shte was loosing 0-6 2-3 before the break. The qualifier Estrella Cabeza-Candela took all the remaining games to win 6-0 6-2 on Saturday.
Karatantcheva will be in the main draw of another 25'000 USD tournament in Florida - in Ft Walton Beach next week.

The rain spoiled the whole program of the Clearwater tournament and the matches were rescheduled for Saturday. Sesil Karatantheva's second round match is at Court 11 at 9 am (local time).

Sesil Karatantcheva's job in the match against the qualifier Estrella Cabeza-Candela will be very difficult after resuming of the game on Friday. Several matches of the program of the 25'000 USD ITF tournament in Clearwater, Florida were postponed because of rain. Sesil lost 0-6 the first set and the result in the second set was 2-3.

Sesil Karatantcheva gave only 2 games to her opponent Lauren Albanese (USA) to win 6-2 6-0 in the 1st round of the 25'000 USD ITF tournament in Clearwater, Florida, USA.
In the second round Karatantcheva will play the Spanish player Estrella Cabeza-Candela (ESP) who entered the main draw after the qualifications. Cabeza-Candela's current ITF rank is 233.
